OJ Math Counts Recognition

Based on the results of the local Mathcounts competition held at West Shore Community College, six OJ DeJonge Middle School students traveled to Muskegon Community College for the regional competition. Zach Gerovac, Ashley Harrie, Zac Schoon, and Connor Tominski comprised the team, with Nolan Stark and Temple Thompson serving as alternates. The team took first place overall which means they will be traveling to the State Mathcounts competition as a team! The OJ team was also awarded "Most Improved School", earning a certificate worth $250 for various math resources to be used with Mathcounts competitors. The state Mathcounts competition takes place on March 17th at FSU. The OJ DeJonge Middle School Mathcounts team is coached by Cinda Whipple and Kelley Chapman. This speaks highly of our students, parents, and the LAS team of educators.
